I just wanted to do something for the person I really really loved. Here’s the King of Pop, and nobody’s ever done it for him. We’ve done it for Biggie, Tupac, and Aaliyah. I was kind of thrown back by the fact that nobody had done a tribute song for Michael Jackson. Going into it I wanted to make a song that sounded like him. Just paying homage to somebody that I listened to for a long time. What was your thought process when writing the song I Miss the King? You have an amazing tribute to Michael Jackson on this album. To get inspiration from other types of music. Musically, I would have to say Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and the Isley Brothers. You’re such an inspiration to others through your music, who inspires you? It’s a rock record as well and that’s another reason that I like it, because I’ve never did before and I stepped outside of the norm and did something different. I would have to say my absolute favorite is I’m So Gone, because its speaking the truth. My favorite, it changes to be honest with you, because I love each and every song for different reasons. What’s your favorite song on the album and why? Basically, I just want to do music, and write songs that means something to me. In an era where most of the music is about material things and popping molly’s, how do you continue to make music that’s true to you? It’s just the subject matter, and where I’m at in my life now. Just as those albums talked about what I was going through then. I think this album is different, because I'm talking about what I'm going through today. I don’t do the same things I use to do back then. Now, I’m forty. I’m not the same person I was. Back then, I was twenty-something years old. Just me as a person in general, I’ve changed.
